Dongdaemun Design Plaza wins SEGD award
Applied’s work in Seoul, in collaboration with our partners YiEUM, receives recognition from the Society for Experiential Graphic Design

Applied Wayfinding and YiEUM Partners collaborated to create the wayfinding and signage for Zaha Hadid's Dongdaemun Design Plaza, a major urban development in the heart of Seoul.

Congratulations to Applied in collaboration with our Korean partners YiEUM for winning an SEGD Merit Award! Applied’s Director of Planning, Richard Simón, Senior Designer, Kyoungmo Kim, who heads up Applied’s office in Seoul, and Senior Designer, Rob Coomber have done exceptional work on Dongdaemun Plaza, “An exquisite wayfinding system for an almost mind-bogglingly complex space. The information architecture is so intuitive that it’s easy to miss what a difficult problem these designers solved. The detail and execution are very well done.” More details on the award can be found on SEGD’s website, click here.

Well done to all those involved, comments from the jury gave rave reviews for the wayfinding and signage, “It is remarkable how the designers make use of the grid metallic panels of the building facade for a simple, elegant, and light representation on signage. The indoor signage looks intuitive, making use of minimalistic and pleasing aesthetics. The design of the outdoor and indoor elements seem highly coherent.”
